Hard work pays off. Whether it be a promotion, getting a job or internship, or getting the grades you want in school, hard work pays off in a variety of ways. Although hard work can produce stress (negative), it almost always rewards you with positive emotions. Whether you are my brothers who find yourselves getting promotions and internships (congrats), or someone simply getting into college, you always have something to show for your work. Unfortunately, many work their butts off and find themselves missing the cut by just a tad. Don’t forget all the work you did to get there. Regardless of whether you obtain your potential goal or not, you can always reward yourself with the understanding that you did everything you could to try, and you are better because of it. When I think of this, I am reminded of the article I posted above. It records what we did as a team, although we weren’t the best, we worked hard for it.
I remember this article specifically because of the meet it refers to. In one of the races in particular, I was in first place, giving it everything I had, only to come to the last stretch of the race and lose all the power I had. I came in 4th overall, but it was CIFSS, D1. I’m ok with that. I have recognized that while a Div 1 CIF FIRST PLACE would have been awesome, I achieved what I had trained for. I broke the time I pushed for. I gave everything I had to give. I cannot expect more of myself.
The reward, whether tangible or not, always has the potential to open doors… if you can see the big picture.
Work Hard, and You will be Rewarded. Whether you reached the goal you set or missed it by a heartbeat, you are a better person. -Stay Positive
